Rebecca and Hector
September 16, 2000

ABOUT THE BRIDE: Rebecca is a native St. Louisan. She currently works in California as a Project Engineer for PFI, a Boston-based architectural and engineering firm

ABOUT THE GROOM: Hector was born in Peru but lived most of his life in Chicago. He is currently a Business Manager for Monsanto in California.

HOW WE MET: Hector and Rebecca met while both working for Monsanto in St. Louis. An excellent professional relationship evolved into a beautiful friendship and blossoming romance.

ENGAGEMENT: The engagement took place at Art Hill in front of the St. Louis Art Museum in July of 1999.

PLANNING: With an upcoming move to California and a job search for Rebecca, they quickly realized that they would need a lot of help planning the wedding. The perfect answer was a wedding consultant and Rebecca soon discovered Katie Fechter, the owner of Details Event Coordinators, and the fun began!

ATTIRE: Rebecca wore a white sleeveless floor-length gown with beaded spaghetti straps from the Ultimate Bride. The bride wore a tiara and a veil that fell just below her shoulders. Just before the ceremony, Hector (through his mother) presented Rebecca with a gorgeous platinum and diamond necklace that completed her attire. Rebecca carried a magnificent bouquet comprised of cream and light pink roses.

The bridesmaids looked beautiful in a two-piece crepe ensemble. To personalize their attire, each girl chose a platinum top in her own style and each wore a floor-length black skirt with black strapped shoes. The bridesmaids carried long-stemmed bouquets comprised of raspberry, purple, red, and cream flowers.

The groom wore a three-button suit-length black tuxedo with a black vest and tie, while the groomsmen wore the same tuxedo with black and platinum vests.

THE CEREMONY: The noon ceremony consisted of a full Catholic mass at the Church of the Ascension in Chesterfield, Missouri. The priest had Rebecca and Hector face the congregation during the homily and reminded everyone of the both the beauty of marriage and the support that the new couple will need throughout their lives together.

The church decorations were elegantly simple. Two large arrangements were placed in the front of the church and large scones hung on the center aisle pews, each arrangement coordinating with the bridesmaids' bouquets. Upon leaving the church, Rebecca and Hector entered a charming white 1950 antique Rolls Royce that took them to the reception immediately following the ceremony.

THE RECEPTION: The primarily outdoor reception was held at The Studio at St. Albans. A spacious tent was placed on the side terrace and housed the sizable dance floor and band, the food stations, and one of the bars.

After some extremely touching toasts, two food stations opened with a wide variety of foods including a pasta station and a grill station. Since the couple decided not to have arranged seating, guests were able to choose their own seat at tables of many different sizes either inside the tent or on one of the terraces.

An exquisite three-tier pear cake with poached pears, provided by AzucArte, was cut inside the grand living room.

Robert George took pictures at the church as well as during the entire reception. Rebecca and Hector wanted to capture the moments as they happened, so Robert's photojournalistic style was perfect. As the day grew darker, hanging candles were lit in the trees and Boom, a ten piece versatile band, began playing.

HOW WE PERSONALIZED THE WEDDING: In place of the traditional guest book, the couple had guests write words of wisdom and wishes on small cards to be placed in their wedding scrapbook.

Rebecca used her jewelry-making skills to handcraft the bridesmaid's earrings and bracelets.

Each out-of-town guest received a welcome basket and note in their hotel room filled with munchies and treats.

THINGS WE LOVED: Eating dinner at the Melting Pot with my girlfriends and sister the night before the wedding and then having a slumber party at The Studio that night with my bridesmaids was very special. We were so fortunate to have friends from all over the country travel to share this celebration with us. One of the most touching parts of the event were the toasts presented to us at the reception. The perfect end to our wonderful celebration was our peaceful and romantic honeymoon in St. Helena's located in Napa, California.
